KK Wind Solutions sign framework agreement with Stiesdal Hydrogen for groundbreaking plant concept
A global leader in power, control and cooling solutions for renewables will deliver key technologies for a green hydrogen plant concept being developed by the Danish clean-tech pioneer Stiesdal.
KK Wind Solutions has already delivered several Power Supply Units and Electrolyser Control Systems to Stiesdal Hydrogen, and framework agreements are in place to supply similar modules for future turnkey hydrogen plant concepts.
Projects typically start at around 12.4 MW, based on standardised 3.1 MW electrolyser modules, and can be expanded stepwise to larger capacities, enabling flexible scaling of green hydrogen production.

The electrolyser control system will be tailored to Stiesdal Hydrogen’s exact site specifications, ensuring stable and efficient operation of the electrolysis process by managing dynamic renewable inputs and delivering reliable power to the electrolyser stacks. This will result in the electrolyser producing green hydrogen at maximum efficiency while reducing operating costs. Stiesdal Hydrogen’s new plant concept targets capital expenditure (CAPEX) below EUR 1,000 per kilowatt, a significant reduction compared to current market prices.
The agreement also benefits from state-of-the-art thermal management technologies from Nissens Cooling Solutions, now part of KK Wind Solutions. Together, these integrated systems secure optimal performance, efficiency and safety under highly demanding operational conditions.
Michael Ariel Nielsen, VP of Business Development at KK Wind Solutions, said: “By combining the PSU and Electrolyser Control System and harvesting the synergies from the cooling technologies acquired through Nissens Cooling Solutions, we are uniquely positioned to provide comprehensive power electronic and thermal management solutions for the green hydrogen sector.
“This framework agreement demonstrates how our combined expertise enables stable and efficient hydrogen production, supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future. Thank you to Stiesdal Hydrogen for your continued partnership and innovation in driving forward this important industry.”
KK Wind Solutions and Stiesdal Hydrogen have worked together since 2021 to develop new power conversion and control technology for the growing green hydrogen industry. The companies developed a prototype solution and, in 2023, successfully produced the first kilogram of green hydrogen at a project in Denmark.
By combining advanced renewable power conversion with next-generation cooling technologies, this partnership represents a critical step toward scaling affordable green hydrogen production in Europe.
