CPH2 signs deal with Constant Energy for membrane-free electrolyser units
Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2), a leading manufacturer of membrane-free electrolysers (MFE) for green hydrogen production has announced a pivotal moment in its journey towards commercialisation.
The company has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Constant Energy, an Irish-based energy developer.
The future of green hydrogen production is taking shape in County Mayo, Ireland. Mayo County Council has recently granted Limerick-based Constant Energy Ltd planning permission for the Killala Energy Hub, a hydrogen and energy centre.

The proposed site, which will link wind and solar energy production in the vicinity to Constant Energy’s site, has the potential to become a major hub to produce green hydrogen using CPH2’s MFE technology.
The hydrogen produced will be utilised for export to the surrounding gas grid and will supply a hydrogen filling station servicing fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).
In accordance with the MOU, discussions will now commence to agree terms of a Sale and Purchase Agreement (“SPA”), which would see Constant Energy initially purchase five 1MW MFE220 units from CPH2 to be operational between 2027 and 2028.
The hydrogen plant will be located to the south of the site at the Old Ashai Plant, Killala and will consist of a double-storey electrolyser building to house the MFE220 units.
Constant Energy and CPH2 will also enter discussions to secure up to 200MW of capacity at the County Mayo site over the next 10 years.
Jon Duffy, CEO of Clean Power Hydrogen, said: “The signing of an MOU between CPH2 and Constant Energy is a significant step forward in the commercialisation of our membrane-free technology, following our successful site acceptance test and demonstration of our electrolyser functioning to a high level in a commercial setting.
“With confidence around both our technology and our ability to deliver operationally, this MOU provides an exciting opportunity for the Company as we look to provide the solution for efficient green hydrogen production across the industry.”
Partick Hynes, Director, Constant Energy Limited, Ireland said: “We are delighted be working with CPH2. We have been watching their development and believe that their MFE technology is a game changer for the renewable industry here in Ireland as we look to capture curtailed renewable energy and offer grid balancing through the Killala Energy Hub.”
