ENERTRAG signs land purchase agreement for large-scale hydrogen project in Pasewalk
Following the signing of a purchase agreement for a 6.5-hectare site in the Berlin-Szczecin Industrial Park, ENERTRAG has reached a significant milestone in the realisation of its hydrogen project in Pasewalk.
One of the first large-scale hydrogen plants in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is to be built on the site.
The planned hydrogen plant is part of the European IPCEI (Important Projects of Common European Interest) funding programme and will be connected to the future German hydrogen core network.

The first phase of construction will have an electrolysis capacity of 60 megawatts – enough to produce around 6,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.
In a second phase, the plant can be expanded to a total of 180 megawatts. The project will thus make a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of industry and to sustainable energy supply in north-east Germany.
The agreement was signed on 24 June 2025 by Mayor Danny Rodewald, Deputy Mayor Marko Schmidt and Elgin Knop, the head of the relevant department for real estate.
ENERTRAG was represented by Michael Westphal and Branko Swierczek, managing directors of ENERTRAG Landgesellschaft, and project manager Tim Pawlowski from ENERTRAG SE.
Michael Westphal, Managing Director of ENERTRAG Landgesellschaft said: “This is a milestone in the construction of a hydrogen plant in Pasewalk, which will be one of the first in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
“This project will not only create new jobs, but also strengthen local economic development and act as a beacon for the region. Our project is another step towards completely replacing fossil fuels.”
The specific planning progress has already been scheduled: In 2025, the engineering work for the technical design will be commissioned. Construction is scheduled to start in 2027, with commissioning planned for 2029.
With the Pasewalk site, ENERTRAG is consistently pursuing its goal of developing integrated energy infrastructures that combine wind and solar energy with green hydrogen, paving the way for a climate-neutral future.
