Impact Coatings and PEM electrolyser supplier sign coating service supply agreement
Impact Coatings AB, a global technology leader and full-service provider of coating solutions and a European supplier of proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers, have signed a three-year supply agreement.
Under the agreement, Impact Coatings will provide coating services for separator plates and porous transport layer (PTL) plates used in PEM electrolysers. Sampling efforts leading up to the supply agreement started during 2024.

Deliveries under the agreement are said to begin in summer 2025, initiating an industrial collaboration to support the scale-up of electrolyser production. Impact Coatings’ Coating Service Center in Linköping will be responsible for the coating production and volumes are expected to grow over time in line with the customer’s planned manufacturing ramp-up.
Stefan Dreger, Regional President EMEA, Hydrogen Solutions, at Impact Coatings said: “There is significant interest from the hydrogen sector globally in Impact Coatings’ solutions for PEM electrolysers. This supply agreement with a European manufacturer indicates that the European industry is in transition from sampling to volume production.”
Impact Coatings, based in Linköping, Sweden, use physical vapour deposition (PVD) technology – clean processes of applying thin layers of coatings to design surface properties, helping to prolong lifespan, and enhance product performance.
